But there's nothing like an ash cloud / earthquake combo to keep a gal in Chch!
It's pretty spectacular huh? Silver lining = no 3am start for me this morning!! Woo hoo!
But it does mean that my travel plans are a tad "up in the air" (or not, as is the case!) so Sweden will just have to wait for another day or two ..
But it does mean that while Qantas has me on hold I can do a quick blog update!
My last week in Chch went ridiculously fast! The majority of my farewells involved food - I don't think I've ever eaten this much in my life!!
I went with my work girls to Five Star, a delicious Vietnamese restaurant in Fendalton. Ate prawns for the first time. Have decided they are too delicious to be freaked out about.
I tried my hand at some origami butterflies in the attempt create a new take on "Thank You" notes.
Relatively successful ... although they were referred to as a frog by more than one person ... much to my mortification (I refuse to acknowledge the validity of such statements!!!)
Team Pink gave me THE most generous and thoughtful/practical/useful/awesome going away present ever!! An incredible Gortex raincoat! Scotland here I come!!
Please excuse the myspace pose. The photo doesn't do the colour justice - it's an awesome pistachio green and I love it! :)
Exciting things have also arrived in the post this week.
It's official! Now I just need to work on my beard ...
NZ Post also delivered my Kiwi passport, a document I realised I was going to need when I decide to return. I did NOT want to arrive at the airport only to be told I couldn't prove I was a New Zealand citizen and had to return to where I came from!
Double passport! It's so intense!!!!
I had a delicious brunch at Luci's on Saturday.
Isn't she a cutie???
Breakfast should always come arranged as a smiley face. Yum yum!
Right, that's it for now! Back to Qantas ... 25 minutes on hold and the battery is about to run out :( Fingers crossed we get news soon!
Love to all! xxox
Update: 47 minutes on hold and a nearly confirmed rebooking later we had an aftershock that caused the phone to crap out just as Qantas informed me that my flight has never been confirmed and that there isn't a seat for me on the plane. Stress levels are ridiculously high and I want to cry and scream and go back to bed and bury my head all in one. Have been on the phone on hold again for over half an hour and am dreading the conversation that is to come. Please keep fingers crossed for me!!! xx
Update 2: Over two hours on the phone was all worth it!!! My flight plan is now Chch to Sydney at 1.25pm tomorrow, arriving in Copenhagen at 5.25pm on the 16th via Frankfurt and London. LONDON BABY!! :P So now we just need to keep our fingers crossed and send positive clear, ash-free sky thoughts out into the universe! :) Bring it on!! *mwah!*
