So much can happen in two weeks. Turns out all you need to do is give it a little tap to start the ball rolling. Without wanting to jinx it (touch wood!!), I am in the middle of finalising a 12 month nanny job .. in Switzerland!!
I would be living here ...
and looking after two girls of 9 and 11. They live in a small village called Uitikon, which is 25 minutes away from Zurich (!) by train (!!!) and have a holiday home in the mountains.
I have spoken to the mother twice, and from the moment we said 'Hello' I felt like I have known her all my life. Very good sign. I had a chance to speak to their old nanny who lives in Wellington, and she and I got on ridiculously well. She had lovely things to say about them, and was honest with me about what to expect (which I really appreciated). She said I was more than welcome to give her a bell anytime if I wanted to talk to someone who had 'been there, done that'.
So, Zurich, for a year. Wow. Looks like said year will involve lots of chocolate eating (:P), learning German (:O), and copious amounts of travel (:D). Super excited! All very real and scary though. I fly in two months. Eeeeeep!
Job doesn't start till mid/late August .. so June till then is going to involve Helsinborg, Glasgow, Paris, and a bus tour of Northern Europe. Ohhhh yeah! Can't wait! And with weekends and at least 5 weeks of holiday during that year there will be plenty of opportunities to visit friends and family in other exciting places. Plus six months next year to au pair in Spain (I would hate for two years of uni study to go to waste!) The possibilities are endless!!! One very overwhelmed but happy ginger :)
Job confirmation on Tuesday .. wish me luck!!
xxox
